Did I just see my dead dog?

Ok, So about 4 years ago My Red male Doberman pincher died and My other Doberman was just heartbroken so I was going outside last night to go get something out of the garage and I saw this shadowy figure of my dog! He was right there just looking at me staying still and I got scared and ran back to my house. But this isn't the first time I have seen him. A few weeks after he died I was taking the trash out and It was day time and I looked at the dogs kennel and I could have sworn I saw him running like he was happy. But I don't know help anyone?
